How the U.S. News Information Systems Ranking Maps to MSITM Programs
U.S. News & World Report publishes an Information Systems specialty ranking within graduate business education. It is useful evidence of faculty/department reputation, but it is not automatically a ranking of the exact MSITM, MSIS, MSIM, MISM or related master’s degree shown on MSITM.com.
This crosswalk uses the April 2026 release. Universities do not always label the edition consistently in their own announcements, so MSITM.com uses the release date rather than pretending the year label is perfectly uniform.
Key: “Aligned” means the ranked business school is also the home of, or closely connected to, the program we profile. “Different unit” means the university appears in the U.S. News specialty ranking, but the ranked business school is not the school that offers the program on MSITM.com.

| MSITM.com program | U.S. News IS specialty | Why we do not attach it as the program’s rank |

| Arizona State – MS IT | #15 | The rank belongs to W. P. Carey; the profiled MS IT is outside that business school. |

No April 2026 U.S. News business Information Systems specialty listing identified
We did not find these profiled programs’ universities on the April 2026 business Information Systems specialty table: Syracuse, Illinois Tech, UMBC, Northeastern, Virginia Tech, Pace, Oakland, DePaul, Nebraska Omaha, University of South Florida, UConn, Alabama Manderson, and UGA Terry. This does not mean the programs are weak; it means they should not be assigned a number from this particular ranking.
Important Washington ranking discrepancy
UW’s official April 2026 university ranking release lists Business (Information Systems) tied #15. Foster’s current MSIS page displays #12 Information Systems Program without identifying the ranking year. For this April 2026 crosswalk, MSITM.com uses #15 and keeps the separate Foster MSIS marketing claim distinct.
Sources and interpretation
MSITM.com cross-checked the April 2026 U.S. News Information Systems specialty table against current university ranking/program pages wherever possible. Examples include official confirmations from Indiana Kelley (#8), Maryland Smith (#8), Rutgers (#26), UW (#15 business specialty), NJIT (#41), CU Denver (#41), and Florida Atlantic (#101).
Do not read this table as a 1-to-N ranking of MSITM degrees. U.S. News is ranking the Information Systems specialty within graduate business education. MSITM.com uses it as one external reputation signal alongside curriculum, AI exposure, career outcomes, experiential learning, cost, flexibility and STEM status.
